This single cavity mold casts the historically correct size ball for all .69 caliber US muskets from the Model 1795 Springfield all the way up to the Model 1842 Musket.  The .65 caliber ball was also used in French muskets supplied to the Continenal Army during the American Revolution.  The ball was made 4/1000s less than bore diameter facilitate swift loading, especially after the musket was fouled from shooting.  The ball was issued in preprepared paper cartridges with the powder charge.

Forth Armory offers an excellent template and mandral kit for recreating this important cartridge that spanned almost 75 years of use in American military history.  This kit is a great companion item for this mold.  See the video below for detailed instructions on how the kit is used to make both Ball and Buck & Ball catridges. You can see all of Forth Armory's cartridge template and mandral kits here: https://www.forth-armoury.com/cartridge-template-kits.html#/

For casual shooting bullet can also be fired with loose powder and ball in your musket or with a lubricated cloth patch.
